"I have acted as Tour Guide for over twenty years but it all began as nothing more than showing out-of-town friends around. My friends would tell their friends and after a while I’d get calls from agents, publicists and managers asking me to show celebrities around Toronto. I have no stories to tell about that really, because I assure discretion when in the company of the rich and famous.
Currently, I do something called a Jazz Safari™, a concept which I developed to raise money for JAZZ.FM91. It began as an off-handed comment by composer/trumpeter David Buchbinder who said once on air “You are a fun guy and are always acting as tour guide. I think people should donate $500 to go out on the town with you for a night!” I couldn’t believe that the phones started ringing right after he said it and these jazz tours of Toronto have now raised a ton of money over the past six years. The tours offered through the station, which is a not for profit charity by the way, have now gone international and each year I take generous donors to New York, Monterey, New Orleans, Chicago and even Havana, Cuba."
